Liu Xiaodu is the Director of the Pingshan Art Museum in Shenzhen, China. He is also a founding partner of URBANUS Architecture & Design Inc. and serves as the Principal Architect of Studio LXD.

Liu Xiaodu was the first chairman of the Shenzhen City of Design Promotion Association. In 2016, he was appointed as the curator for the China Pavilion at the London Design Biennale. Additionally, he was selected as one of the chief curators for the 2017 Shenzhen-Hong Kong Urbanism/Architecture Bi-City Biennale in Shenzhen.

In 1999, Liu Xiaodu co-founded URBANUS with two other partners. The firm expanded to branches in Beijing and Shenzhen and has become one of the most influential architectural practices in China. Many of URBANUS's projects have become new landmarks of urban life, receiving numerous prestigious awards and being exhibited and published worldwide. Over the last 25 years, Liu Xiaodu has participated in various international architectural academic events and exhibitions.

Since 2019, Liu Xiaodu has served as the first director of the newly established Pingshan Art Museum. He has assembled a young team and launched a series of contemporary art and design exhibitions and events. His notable exhibitions include those featuring international artists Roman Signer and Daniel Konnor, as well as a cross-boundary series titled “Nine Tiered Pagoda - The Magic of Art and Vision.” He has also curated “The Hometown” series and the “Contemporary Artists in Shenzhen” series, including the recent large exhibition, “Nomadism in Southern China.”

Mr. Liu aims to promote the contemporary art ecology in Shenzhen and the Greater Bay Area in the Pearl River Delta. Under his leadership, the Pingshan Art Museum has worked diligently to gain influence and recognition across the nation.
