Fancesca Valsecchi is a design researcher and educator whose work focuses on urban transformation, public-space innovation, and people-centered design. She works at the College of Design and Innovation at Tongji University in Shanghai. She established the Ecology and Cultures Innovation Lab to discuss and experiment on more-than-human design and the challenges of post-development paradigms in urban regeneration and public services. She has led international research projects examining urban regeneration, temporary use, and cultural-driven development in complex metropolitan contexts. Her work bridges urban design theory and applied research, with particular attention to citizen participation, governance, and the social and ecological dimensions of urban spatial change. Through academic collaborations across China and Europe, his research contributes to contemporary urban design discourse grounded in real-world experimentation and long-term transformation processes.
