British-Chinese artist, designer, material innovator, and technologist Elaine Yan Ling Ng is the founder of studio The Fabrick Lab, which merges environmentally responsive textiles, electronics, biomimicry, interiors, and installations reacting to light, humidity, and movement, offering design deeply rooted in ecology, emotion, and innovation, and pushing the boundary of materials as a storytelling tool.

Elaine earned her MA in Design (Textile Futures) with distinction from Central Saint Martins, London, and is an alumna of the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership. A TED Fellow, her practice is guided by her vision to weave nature, technology, and vocation into transformative material experiences, innovating while celebrating traditional craftsmanship.

Elaine’s internationally recognised design honours include AD100 Game Changers (《AD Italia》), The Influencer (INDE.Awards), the Harper’s BAZAAR Visionary Women Award, and, most recently, the 2025 Maison&Objet International Women&Design Innovation Award.

Her works - often described as magical in their approach - have been exhibited at major cultural institutions and fairs, including Art Basel, Design Miami/Basel, the Science Museum (London), the Victoria and Albert Museum (London), the Triennale Design Museum (Milan), the Espace Fondation EDF (Paris), the TextielMuseum (Tilburg), and the Harbourfront Centre (Toronto). Elaine has also collaborated with leading global brands such as Kvadrat, Nature Squared, Swarovski, and The Macallan, bringing her textile innovations into dialogue with architecture, contemporary design, and luxury.
